Training Courses

Lynda library

lyndaLibrary is a user-friendly online training resource. It offers a variety of expertly presented training courses, all of which are edited for accuracy. The flexibility of lyndaLibrary allows you to complete training sections at your own pace, and the site will also save your place for your return.

Use of lyndaLibrary is not confined to libraries. Customers can remotely access the site from anywhere in the state.

To access lyndaLibrary, just visit the library’s catalogue page. You will see a link to the lyndaLibrary website. You will need to use your library card and pin number to access the website.

There is no need for extra software. However, desktop or laptop use of the lyndaLibrary suite will require access to the latest version of the Google Chome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Safari browsers. You must also have JavaScript and web data cookies enabled.

Carter's Antiques Price Guide

Carter's Publications have been publishing price guides on art antiquities, antiques, collectables, retro, vintage and 20th century design for 28 years.

Carter's online price guide features of 90,000 items. The guide is frequently updated and is indexed. You can search by category/subcategory or keyword, with the facility to further refine your search, making it easy to drill down to the item you're seeking.
All antiques and collectables in the database include a professionally photographed image, and have been sourced from dealers and auctioneers in Australia and New Zealand.

Please note this is a price guide and not an online marketplace for antiques and collectables. The items included will have been photographed from several months to several years prior to publication on this site.

SACommunity is a database of South Australian community services including information about government, non-government, community based and some private sector organisations that provide services for the South Australian community in the areas of health, welfare, housing, education, community participation, information, legal services, arts and recreation. Searches on the site can be limited to Burnside (or any other council area), or across all council areas.

Ancestry Library Edition

The Ancestry Library Edition electronic resource is now available to patrons within the library.This is actually a collection of databases aimed at those doing genealogy. While it is an American product, it includes some Australian (and UK) databases - for example Australian Electoral Rolls 1901 - 1936; Sands Directories for Sydney and NSW 1861 - 1933; Who's Who in Australia 1921 - 1950; Australia Convict Index, 1788 - 1868, and many more. There are more than 4000 databases and 1.5 billion names!

Access is only available in the library - please ask at the Information Desk.
