Draft Business Plan

The draft Business Plan for 2017/18 – 2019/20 including the Rating Strategy and Rates Policy 2017/18 and the Long Term Financial Plan 2017 - 2027 is now available for consultation in accordance with Section 123 of the Local Government Act 1999.

The draft Business Plan for 2017/18 – 2019/20 (the Plan) has been prepared to achieve the long term objectives of the Community Strategic Plan. 

Comments and feedback on the draft Business Plan 2017/18 – 2019/20 including the draft Rating Strategy and Rates Policy 2017/18 and the draft Long Term Financial Plan 2017 – 2027 are invited from 31 May 2017 to 23 June 2017.

All comments, feedback and submissions will be considered prior to Council adopting the final Business Plan 2017/18 – 2019/20.

The draft Plan is available for reading during normal business hours without charge at the Council Administration Office at 115 Ellen Street, Port Pirie at the Port Pirie Library, 3 Wandearah Road, Port Pirie and at the Rural office in Bowman Street, Crystal Brook. 

A hard copy of the draft Plan can be purchased at the Council office on payment of a fee or can be downloaded and viewed online here

Comments and feedback on the draft Plan or any part of the Plan can be provided online using the feedback form at the bottom of this page, by email to feedback@pirie.sa.gov.au, in writing addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, PO Box 45, Port Pirie or by fax to 8632 5801.

Public Information Forum

Everyone is invited to attend a Public Information Forum to be held on Monday 19 June at 6.00pm in the Council Chambers at 115 Ellen Street, Port Pirie, where you will be given an opportunity to ask questions in relation to the draft Business Plan or to make a submission.

Verbal presentations and submissions must not exceed 5 minutes.

Planning for 2017 - 2020 includes a number of significant projects even though the Council continues to work with increased governance, compliance and regulatory requirements.

The projects, activities and services to be delivered as described in the draft Business Plan are to be partly funded by rate income. 

For 2017/18 there will be an increase in rates income as follows:

  • Total rates income to increase by 4.3% as per the Long Term Financial Plan
  • the Fixed Charge of the General Rate is to increase to $475 per property
  • the Differential rate of the General Rate 'the rate in the dollar' to increase by 5%
  • the Waste and Recycling Charge is to be $220
  • Community Wastewater Management Scheme (CWMS) fees to increase by 2%.
