Public Art Register

The Port Pirie Regional Council is very proud of the public art displayed in our area and believes public art will help to shape the future streetscapes of the region.

Council encourages ongoing development of public art in the Council region that will define a sense of place, foster civic identity and pride, and provide inspiration for residents and visitors alike. Council’s strategy includes forming a Public Art Selection Group. This group will be responsible for artist shortlisting, selection of concept designs and design development. It will also conduct public consultation where required to ensure public artworks meet the needs of the community.

Port Pirie Regional Council expects that public art will help create an environment that reflects pride, enables recognition and respect for the past and delivers a range of outcomes through community involvement.

This section of our site will introduce our Public Art, offer art and artist information including locations.

HAVE YOUR SAY ON OUR NEXT PUBLIC ART INSTALLATION!

Artist Joel Moore (Vans the Omega) will be visiting Port Pirie in September to paint a mural on the Woolworths wall, facing Norman Street. But first, we need YOUR help in voting for the successful design!

Pictured below are three different styles of painting with different themes. These images reflect the different styles and themes the artist proposes for the wall but are indicative only. (Please Note: These samples will NOT be the final artwork. these are examples of murals that Vans the Omega has already completed).

Please visit the Port Pirie Regional Council Facebook page to vote for the style and theme you prefer. When we have a clear favourite, the artist will design specific faces/designs that suit the location.

This poll will be open until 5pm Sunday 20 August 2017.
