Fire Danger Season
Notice to Residents - PREPARE FOR THE FIRE DANGER SEASON NOW!
The 2013/2014 fire danger season is fast approaching, usually commencing on the 15th November each year (subject to change).
Residents are advised that they are required by law to conduct fire prevention work on their properties to prepare for the upcoming fire danger season.
Council’s Fire Prevention Officer will be conducting inspections throughout the Port Pirie region, commencing in October and continuing through the fire danger season, to ensure that fire prevention work is being carried out. This includes the slashing of all grass fuels on town and vacant blocks and around homes.
Following inspection, should it be noted that fuel hazard reduction work has not been addressed, property owners may receive a hazard reduction notice which requires them to undertake the works. An expiation notice of $315 can be issued for failure to comply.
Residents can report fire hazards to Council by calling 8633 9777.
For advice on fire prevention, call Mark Austin, Fire Prevention Officer on 86339736.
