2020 Citizen of the Year Awards
- Media Releases
Do you know someone who makes our community a better place?
Nominations are now open for Port Pirie’s Citizen of the Year and Community Event Awards. These awards are proudly presented at the Port Pirie Regional Council Australia Day Celebrations on 26 January 2020.
There are three categories in which nominations can be submitted under:
- Citizen of the Year Award
- Young Citizen of the Year Award
- Community Event of the Year Award.
These awards recognise individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to the community. Nominations can be made across areas such as education, health, fundraising, charitable and voluntary services, business, sport, arts, the environment or any other area that helps to create a better community.
“The Citizen of the Year award is no doubt the highest accolade that can be bestowed on a member of our community. The recipient may come from many different backgrounds and operate in different organisations, but it is the person you feel has represented themselves and our community to the best of their ability and the community has received the benefit of their actions,” said Mayor Leon Stephens.
“I urge you to think about the people around you who do outstanding work and take the time to nominate them. Make that difference in someone’s life you believe needs to be recognised,” said Mayor Stephens.
Winners of the Council Awards can also go in the running for the State Awards, to be presented by the Governor of South Australia.
