2020 Community Plan Survey Results
Business/industry support and attraction, upgrading roads and footpaths and Port Pirie’s foreshore redevelopment have been identified as the community’s top priorities for Port Pirie Regional Council for the next 5 years.
These themes emerged from Council’s 2020 Community Plan Survey, the first stage of a five-year review of Port Pirie Regional Council’s Community Plan 2016-2025.
A total of 123 respondents completed the survey, a pleasing result given the COVID-19 restrictions prevented Council conducting its usual face-to-face consultation opportunities including public meetings and information displays.
Respondents indicated the best performing Council services or activities are parks and gardens, the Port Pirie Sports Precinct, Council events and communication.
Areas identified as needing more attention are footpaths, unsealed roads, tree maintenance and the overall appearance of towns, playgrounds and Solomontown Beach.
The full report was presented to Council at last night’s Council Meeting and can be found at https://www.pirie.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0026/695060/Agenda-Ordinary-Meeting-of-Council-24-June-2020-C.pdf
Council will use the Community Survey results along with other information gathered to guide the first review of its Community Plan 2016-2025. The revised Plan will provide more detail on priorities to shape activities and projects in the coming years.
After it has been presented to Council, the revised Plan will be made available for further community feedback in the next stage of consultation. Council is hopeful of a return to shopping centre information displays and public meetings (depending on COVID-19 restrictions) during this next stage of consultation to ensure all residents have the opportunity to have their say.
