Hairdressing salons, beauty therapist, acupuncturist, tattoo and piercing studios are all regularly inspected to determine compliance with the Public Health Standards of Practice for Hairdressing and the Guidelines on the Safe and Hygienic Practice of Skin Penetration.
General hygiene is paramount in the prevention of infection and disease. In addition infection control techniques and procedures must be implemented to prevent the transfer of blood and body fluids that contaminate implements and equipment and the spread disease.
The Council responds to customer inquiries and concerns related to the hair, beauty and skin penetration industry and inspections are conducted to rectify any poor practice and prevent the spread of disease
