Sharps Containers
To encourage the safe storage and disposal of syringes sharps containers are available for purchase. Council locations accepting full sharps containers are:
- Port Pirie Administration Centre, 115 Ellen Street, Port Pirie
- Port Pirie Library, 3 Wandearah Road, Port Pirie
- Crystal Brook Library/Office, Bowman Street, Crystal Brook
Please produce your full containers to the front counter staff and we will replace it with a new container. Used Sharps must be contained in an approved rigid plastic sharps disposal container.
This service is for disposal of personal use sharps only.
Sharps containers are available from the above locations free of charge for Health Care/Seniors/Diabetes cardholders otherwise there is a surcharge of $6.20.
Sharps containers are also provided in most public toilet facilities in the Region.
The Council will also collect syringes when complaints are received regarding discarded syringes in public areas such as footpaths, parks and car parks - please report to the Council on 8633 9777.
