Parking Around Schools
Children, Schools & Road Safety
Parking Restrictions are implemented around Schools for the safety of your children and to promote and optimise traffic movement and safety.
All drivers play a part in ensuring that they contribute to this safe environment in and around schools. Unthinking motorists can cause major problems around schools. A student may be injured or a fatality may occur.
Council staff will continue to patrol around schools to ensure compliance with the relevant legislation. To achieve the ongoing safety of your children your cooperation is sought to ensure you adhere to your responsibilities as a motorist to promote and encourage safe traffic practices.
Council has developed a Golden Rules for School program, which is a guide to help reduce parking congestion and promote child safety around schools, for more hints and tips on how you can contribute to safer traffic and parking around schools, view our Golden Rules for School Information Sheet.
