Parks & Playgrounds

There are plenty of parks and playgrounds around Port Pirie to enjoy a picnic, BBQ and playtime with the kids.

A popular youth hangout is the 4Shore Sk8 Park, ideally positioned on the Port Pirie foreshore. The skate park is popular with skaters and freestyle cyclists alike.

There are two playgrounds located in the Port Pirie CBD for kids to burn off some energy. The playground at the foreshore is fully enclosed for security and has become a popular meeting spot for families, while the Solomontown Beach playground provides a play environment with a beach backdrop.

Bowman Park Nature Play Space in Crystal Brook is a collaborative project between Port Pirie Regional Council and the Bowman Park Management Committee and has been funded through the Federal Government’s Drought Communities Program. Bowman Park Nature Play Space has received the Master Landscapers of SA Award for Best Commercial Landscape Construction.

The playground features interactive structures and landscapes for children to explore such as pathways, log scrambles, build your own cubby, balance logs, treasure hunt, tunnels and soft fall.

Both Council and the Bowman Park Management Committee welcome families and children to visit and enjoy the new facility in keeping with the following points:

  • Parents/carers of children provide adequate supervision.
  • Respect is given to the Nature Play elements and sculptures provided in the park.
