A Bigger and Better New Years Eve Celebration in Port Pirie!
Port Pirie Regional Council is proud to host the New Years Eve community celebration again in 2023. This year will see some new and exciting changes that will enhance the event to be its best yet.
The community are invited to join us on Sunday 31 December from 5pm – 10pm at the Port Pirie Foreshore and Solomontown Beach area to celebrate New Years Eve – the biggest family event of the year!
This event is renowned for having the best fireworks display in the region outside of Adelaide. Although there will only be one firework display this year instead of two, the display will see a combination of the two to make it the biggest single show ever to cap off the event at the family-friendly time of 9.30pm.
This year Council has made the decision to make the event alcohol free to promote the safest possible environment for all families attending. In light of this change, extra efforts have been made to deliver a spectacular line up of entertainment for all ages to ensure everyone celebrates in the safest possible way.
We are excited to announce one of our highlight entertainment pieces is a concert showcasing the famous Peter Combe and his band, singing all of our favourite songs for the children and big kids alike to enjoy. We can’t wait to see everyone sing along to Juicy Juicy Green Grass and Mr Clicketty Cane (Wash Your Face in Orange Juice)!
We are also super excited to celebrate some of the best local talent with opening act, guitarist/singer Tom Barratt and headline band Gen X with their fantastic range of party classics.
Festivities will also include crowd-favourite food and refreshment stalls, amusement rides, free facepainting and balloon twisting is also back. Other activities include an Emergency Services interactive display, skateboard fun at the 4shore sk8 Park and a giant interactive street art piece.
The event will also include Certificate of Merit presentations by Mayor Leon Stephens who will present certificates to our community’s most deserving recipients.
Remember to bring your chairs and picnic rugs for a great night of fun and entertainment!
