ANZAC Day Projection at City Park

Published 23rd April 2026

Port Pirie Regional Council invites the community to gather in quiet reflection from dusk this ANZAC Day, as a special commemorative projection is presented at City Park.

Running until Saturday 2 May, the City Park projector will showcase a curated visual tribute honouring the service and sacrifice of Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women, past and present.

The respectful program supports Council’s commitment to commemorative arts and community engagement, using the City Park outdoor projector as a space for meaningful public art and reflection through visual storytelling.

The presentation features the following films:

  • Port Pirie and Districts Tribute to WW1- created by Ebony Smith, using images provided by former secretary of the Port Pirie RSL, Gary Fradd.
  • The Lost Soldiers of Fromelles– created by Sue Wegener.

These films acknowledge both the significant contribution of the Port Pirie region during World War One and the remarkable personal stories of loss, remembrance and homecoming. Included is the story of Port Pirie born Private Edgar Parham, whose Bible was returned to his family many decades after his death in France.

The projection will commence from dusk at City Park, offering a contemplative experience for community members visiting the city centre following local ANZAC Day services.

The City Park projector is a curated outdoor arts platform supporting thoughtful and culturally appropriate content. This ANZAC Day acknowledgement forms part of Council’s broader approach to using public art to connect community, history and place.

Community members are encouraged to attend local ANZAC Day services across the region and are welcome to visit City Park throughout the evenings.
