Army 'Meet & Greet' Community Event

Published 8th December 2021

Port Pirie Regional Council is proud to partner with the Australian Army to host a ‘Meet & Greet’ community event.

This event builds on the strong relationship the Port Pirie Regional Council has formed with the Australian Army Combat Service Support Battalion. Through this partnership, we are collaborating on a number of community engagement and youth activities primarily focusing on the indigenous community within Port Pirie over the coming years. Projects to date have included tree planting at the Warnertown Road entrance to Port Pirie and a youth adventure training activity.

The Australian Army will continue its strong connection to the community with a ‘Meet and Greet’ event on Thursday 9th December 2021 from 4 pm - 7 pm. The event will be held at the Solomontown Boat Ramp Car Park and Lawn Area, and will include the following activities:

  • 10 metre climbing wall
  • Obstacle course
  • Army vehicles and weaponry on display

Food and refreshments will be available. This is a free and inclusive event and all are welcome.

The ‘Meet and Greet’ event is part of a festive evening for Port Pirie which includes late night Christmas shopping in the Port Pirie CBD, the Stories of the Road Museum open until 7pm and a film screening at the Northern Festival Centre.

One of the goals in Council’s Community Plan is to develop strong, mutually beneficial partnerships and this relationship with the Australian Army Combat Service Support Battalion will see continued benefits for our community.
