Automated Doors for Public Toilet Facilities
An automated door system is being installed at selected public toilet facilities to provide cost efficiencies.
Council has invested $70,000 to renovate the entry doors on seven of the region’s public toilet facilities – six in Port Pirie and one in Crystal Brook. These locations are:
- Solomontown Beach
- Boat Ramp
- Flinders View Park
- City Park
- Memorial Oval (toilet block located near Memorial Drive)
- Port Pirie Cemetery
- Adelaide Square, Crystal Brook
The automated system means the facility doors will automatically unlock at the start of the day and lock at the end of the day. The initiative was identified through Council’s Business Improvement program and will create cost and time efficiencies as it negates the need for manual locking and unlocking of these public amenities.
Contractors have started renovations to the doors on these toilet facilities this week and will continue working on this project until the end of November. The toilets will remain open to the public but may have some disturbance during this time. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.
