Bowman Street Works Update - July 2021

Published 1st July 2021

Port Pirie Regional Council is nearing the completion of the Bowman Street upgrades and thanks the community for their support and patience during this time.

Recently completed works include:

  • Upgrade of garden beds including planting, irrigation and mulching
  • New street furniture
  • New shelter at eastern end of the street
  • Installation of street up lighting
  • Installation of new pedestrian crossings
  • Resealing the road

The recent wet weather has been great for our communities but unfortunately does impact on Council and contractor work programs. As a result, Council is waiting on the line marking of the new road surface and anticipate this will be done in the next two weeks, weather permitting.

Businesses and the public will experience some minor traffic disruptions while the line marking is completed.

Solar heritage street lights will be installed later this month. Council will also replace the irrigation at Adelaide Square and is investigating an electric car charging station at the Post Office car park.

Shopfront facades and verandahs will also be upgraded as part of the main street upgrade. A number of businesses expressed interest in the Crystal Brook Shopfront Improvement Project which is being funded through the Federal Government’s Drought Communities Programme.

Council is excited to see the final stages occur and once again thanks the community for their patience.
