Celebrating our Youth with the Outstanding Achievement Award
Last year Mayor Leon Stephens announced a new Award for our region with the Outstanding Achievement Award. This new award is designed to recognise excellence in our youth, highlighting dedication, hard work, talent and achievements in their chosen passions.
The recipient of this year’s Outstanding Achievement Award is:
Skye Voumard
Skye has achieved so much within softball over the past few years. She plays locally for Cougars Softball and is actively involved in the club as a committee member. Skye always assists with umpiring, serving at the canteen and coaching where possible. Her nickname is "Skippy" as she is always out there with a skip in her step and happy to be involved and be a part of it all. She is a fantastic role model to all players around her.
Skye has received the Best and Fairest award for her club for the 2023/24 season and was also selected to play for the South Australian state team in Queensland, Melbourne and Canberra. Skye and her sister Krystal were also selected to play for the Australian Region in the Babe Ruth Softball World Series USA in July 2024.
“I would like to extend my congratulations to Skye Voumard, the recipient of this year’s Outstanding Achievement Award. Skye is a great example of a young person who has found their passion and works hard towards achieving her goals whilst taking an active role to help her club and other young players. I wish Skye all the best in her chosen sport of softball and throughout any other pursuits,” said Mayor Leon Stephens.
The 2024 Outstanding Achievement Award will be presented at the Port Pirie New Year’s Eve celebrations at the Port Pirie Foreshore on Tuesday 31 December 2024.
