City Park Improvements
Local contractors and Port Pirie Regional Council staff will be working side by side to beautify a park in the heart of Port Pirie’s CBD.
The $190,000 upgrade to City Park has started today with the clearing of existing paving, concrete and some gardens. Planned improvements include the installation of a new shelter and park furniture to create a picnic area, new LED lighting and landscaping. Once finished, City Park will feature a new central lawn, trees, shrubs and ground cover.
The street furniture, lighting and landscaping will match the theme of Alexander Street and complement the CBD Stage 1 upgrade completed in 2017.
This project has been funded through a combination of an $86,100 grant through the State Government’s Places for People program and Council funding.
Works will continue throughout this month and are expected to be completed in early July 2020.
