Closure of Roads North of Frederick Road in Port Pirie West
The area north of Frederick Road in Port Pirie West has been closed off to the public as part of efforts to mitigate lead contamination in soil and minimise antisocial behaviour including illegal dumping.
Pursuant to Section 234A of the Local Government Act 1999, Port Pirie Regional Council has approved the closure of the roads in the area North of Frederick Road, Port Pirie West as follows:
- Lily Street;
- Clara Street;
- Vera Street;
- Eveline Street;
- Agnes Street;
- Frances Street;
- Greenwood Street; and
- Duffy Lane
for the period of 30 days, effective from Thursday 9 March 2023 up to and including Friday 7 April 2023.

Council has been working with Renewal SA regarding the demolition of the remaining houses and outbuildings in the area north of Frederick Road. The demolition works are nearing completion with the final slab removal currently underway. The next step will be the levelling of the ground so that the area can be hydro-mulched. Once the works are completed, the area will be handed over to Council to maintain.
Council will continue to monitor the area for antisocial behaviour and will consider future uses for the land.
