Have Your Say on the  Future of our Cemeteries

Port Pirie Regional Council has released a draft Port Pirie Cemeteries Master Plan for public consultation and encourages anyone with an interest in the future of the cemeteries throughout the Port Pirie region to have their say.

The draft Cemeteries Masterplan offers a framework for the planning and management of the eight cemeteries under the Council's ownership. The document also aligns with the goals of the Port Pirie Cemetery Strategy 2023–2033, addressing key issues like interment capacity, infrastructure improvements, environmental considerations and cultural requirements.

The draft Cemeteries Master Plan aims to:

  • Ensure sufficient interment space, infrastructure improvements and environmental management of the cemeteries.
  • Address maintenance and safety issues to ensure that cemeteries are functional and well managed for future generations.
