Community Invited to Provide Feedback on Port Pirie Play Spaces Upgrades

Published 2nd June 2026

Port Pirie Regional Council is inviting the community to help shape the future of two much-loved local spaces, with new concept designs unveiled for Flinders View Playground and Memorial Park.

These draft designs have been carefully developed using feedback from the September 2025 community survey, where residents, families and visitors shared what matters most to them in local play spaces. Now, Council is calling on the community once again to help refine the vision.

Creating Spaces for Everyone

The proposed upgrades aim to transform both locations into vibrant, inclusive and engaging destinations where people of all ages and abilities can come together to play, connect and relax.

From imaginative play elements to improved accessibility, shade and landscaping, the concepts are designed to reflect both community needs and local character.

Council notes these are preliminary concept plans only, with any future construction subject to funding and budget availability.

A Taste of Local Identity at Flinders View

At Flinders View, the concept brings a uniquely Port Pirie flavour to life through a playful "Pie Floater" theme.

Featuring a striking central play mound inspired by an upturned pie, interactive equipment, inclusive swings and bold sculptural elements, the design blends creativity and community identity. Shaded seating, accessible pathways and new landscaping complete a space designed for both fun and comfort.

Adventure Awaits at Memorial Park

At Memorial Park, the vision shifts to a more natural and adventurous experience with a "Forest Mountain" theme.

Here, families can explore elevated play mounds, flying foxes, and nature-based play zones, alongside quieter spaces for rest and reflection. With new tree planting and accessible pathways throughout, the design aims to create an inviting environment that encourages exploration and connection with nature.
