Corella Control Activities in Crystal Brook
Corella Control Activities in Crystal Brook
Port Pirie Regional Council wishes to inform the residents of Crystal Brook of upcoming Corella Control Activities.
A culling program will take place around the Crystal Brook Golf Course next month.
This initiative aims to manage and reduce the population of corellas, which have been causing significant disturbance and damage to local environments and property.
Program Details:
- Dates: 21-22 October and 26-27 October
- Location: Adjacent Crystal Brook Golf Course
Purpose:
Corella Control Activities have been designed in response to numerous service requests lodged to Port Pirie Regional Council from residents concerned with the damage corellas are causing to the red gum trees in the Crystal Brook Caravan Park and adjacent Crystal Brook Creek along the golf course, together with the properties and parklands they land on to feed.
Corellas are also causing damage to trees within the Crystal Brook Caravan Park along with causing noise disturbance to caravan park visitors and mess from the foliage which the birds are shedding from the trees.
The control activities are designed to:
- Minimize damage to native vegetation.
- Reduce noise pollution and disturbances caused by large flocks.
Safety Measures:
- The program will be conducted by trained professionals to ensure safety and effectiveness.
- Efforts will be made to minimize disruptions to residents and non-target wildlife.
Community Impact:
Port Pirie Regional Council understands that this program may raise concerns among residents. We assure you that all necessary precautions will be taken to address these concerns and to carry out the program in a humane and responsible manner.
