Council Alliance A Leadership Awards Finalist
Port Pirie Regional Council is proud to be named a finalist (alongside our neighbouring councils) in the Local Government Professionals SA’s 23rd Annual Leadership Excellence Awards.
The Flinders Alliance, a group of small to medium sized regional councils established in 2021, is one of three finalists in the Excellence in Cross Council Collaboration category of the Awards. The Alliance consists of Port Pirie Regional Council, District Council of Mt Remarkable, District Council of Orroroo Carrieton, District Council of Peterborough, Northern Areas Council and Flinders Ranges Council.
Collectively, the Flinders Alliance represents a combined 250+ workforce and the combined budget resources of more than $70 million, presenting a significant opportunity to work collectively, collaboratively and efficiently to address challenges and meet community expectations.
The Alliance recognises councils and their staff have expertise in particular areas and leverages this expertise to ensure all communities benefit from skills and knowledge sharing across the wider region.
Benefits have included cost savings, efficiencies, and improved delivery of capital expenditure through joint tenders, reducing duplication of effort through a cost sharing shared services arrangement.
Finalists will be celebrated and winners announced at the Local Government Professionals SA’s 23rd Annual Leadership Excellence Awards Gala Dinner on Friday 10 May 2024.
