Council’s Unsealed Roads Program Now Online

Published 29th February 2024

Port Pirie Regional Council has released an interactive map and schedule of works on the 2023/24 Unsealed Roads Construction & Maintenance program.

This is the first time Council has provided such a detailed insight into its Unsealed Roads program with the aim of keeping the community better informed on road construction and maintenance in the Council region. This proactive approach is expected to address residents’ questions and concerns around the timing of roads to be graded.

Port Pirie Regional Council manages approximately 1,035 kilometres of unsealed roads. These roads are vital for the community and serve a number of users from local traffic, school buses, farming vehicles and machinery.

Roads are selected using data alongside feedback from a number of community organisations and residents to allocate roads to six priority categories.

Port Pirie Regional Council also provides information on the five levels of road maintenance to provide greater clarity on its operations.

Alongside the program, Council has created an interactive Resheeting Map which will be updated regularly to show where Council is currently working, completed roads and programmed roads.

It should be noted that the schedule should be viewed with flexibility to allow for seasonal weather conditions and/or events.

Council’s Unsealed Roads program is now available on our website: www.pirie.sa.gov.au/unsealedroads

There is also an option for residents to ‘opt in’ to receive regular updates on the Unsealed Roads program via an email newsletter.

A similar program and map will be developed for Port Pirie Regional Council’s Sealed Roads Construction & Maintenance program in the near future.
