Draft Business Plan 2026-27 Open For Consultation

Published 15th June 2026

Port Pirie Regional Council has released its Draft Business Plan and Budget 2026/27 for public consultation.

This is a valuable opportunity to have a say on the projects and activities proposed for our communities for the next 12 months and beyond. Port Pirie Regional Council’s Long Term Financial Plan has also been released for consultation.

In a time of rising costs, Council is adopting a measured approach by scaling back spending on major new capital projects. The Draft 2026–2027 Business Plan focuses on maintaining essential services and continuing to listen and respond to community needs, with a modest 5% rate increase proposed in recognition of ongoing cost-of-living pressures faced by the community.

The Plan also supports the Long Term Financial Plan in improving long-term financial sustainability.

Key projects proposed in the Draft 2026/27 Business Plan include:

  • Working with the Community Development Associations across the Council region to identify and implement a series of projects to improve the townships of Crystal Brook, Redhill, Koolunga, Napperby and Warnertown.
  • Completing projects within the Port Pirie Greening Program including the Phoenix Park Wetlands upgrade and the Church Circle/Solomontown Footpaths project.
  • Upgrading playgrounds at Flinders View Park and Memorial Park
  • Developing management plans and strategies for improvements at Bowman Park, Crystal Brook and Lawrie Park, Nelshaby
  • A proposed $3.5 million for sealed road and $1.2 million for unsealed road maintenance
  • Construction of additional car parking along The Terrace (adjacent to the Port Pirie Hospital)

The draft Business Plan, Budget and a series of factsheets providing further detail on the proposed Budget and projects can be viewed and downloaded at www.pirie.sa.gov.au/businessplan2026

Printed copies of the Draft Annual Business Plan and Budget are available at the Council Administration Centre (115 Ellen Street, Port Pirie), Port Pirie Public Library (3 Wandearah Road, Port Pirie) and the Crystal Brook Office (Bowman Street, Crystal Brook).
