Federal grant for Aerodrome lighting

Port Pirie’s airport has received a $300,000 funding boost through Round 2 of the Federal Government’s Regional Airports Program.
Port Pirie was one of 89 regional airports across Australia to receive funding for much-needed infrastructure upgrades.
The funding will be used to replace the existing runway lighting with a new LED lighting system. This supports one of Council’s Community Plan 2020-2025 objectives to become more sustainable by making sustainability a consideration in all planning and decision making.
Port Pirie Regional Council’s Director Infrastructure Kathryn Johnson said the LED lighting system would also result in reduced operating costs for the Port Pirie Aerodrome.
