Have Your Say on the Future of Port Pirie's Play Spaces

Published 11th September 2025

Port Pirie Regional Council is inviting the community to help shape the future of two of the region’s most loved play spaces – Flinders View Park and Memorial Park.

As part of a new upgrade initiative, Council has launched a community survey to gather local insights, ideas, and aspirations for these important community hubs. The goal is to create fun, inclusive and uniquely Port Pirie spaces that reflect the needs and stories of the people who use them.

Mayor Leon Stephens said, “Our play spaces are more than just playgrounds – they’re places where families connect, children grow, and memories are made. We want to hear from everyone – parents, carers, grandparents, and young people – about what matters most to them.”

The survey explores how the parks are currently used, which features are most valued, and what improvements could make them more accessible, enjoyable and welcoming for all. It also seeks feedback on a proposed idea to reimagine Flinders View Park as an open space, while focusing investment on a larger adventure play space at Memorial Park.

Key areas of consultation include:

  • What is currently working well and what could be improved
  • Accessibility, safety and comfort
  • Ideas for new features like adventure or sensory play
  • Community priorities for future upgrades
  • Feedback on the future role of Flinders View Park

The survey is now open and will close at 5pm Friday 3 October 2025 and takes just 5-10 minutes to complete.
