Improving Access to Community Infrastructure
Port Pirie Regional Council is committed to building a community that is inclusive and embraces diversity by improving access to community infrastructure and facilities. Council has recently completed improvements to community infrastructure including town halls, public toilets and bus shelters through the Local Government Infrastructure Partnership Program.
The Disability Access to Community Infrastructure and Facilities Project has been co-funded by the Government of South Australia’s Local Government Infrastructure Partnership Program and enabled approx. $1.5 million in works to be completed. Many of the facilities selected for improvement were located in rural areas due to the ageing infrastructure not meeting current accessibility standards.
The project supports Port Pirie Regional Council’s Disability Access and Inclusion Plan, which aims to develop an integrated whole-of-Council approach to achieving more equitable access and inclusion for all in our community. This provides opportunities for everyone in our region to equally participate in all aspects of community life.
