Following the success of last year’s Tech Savvy Seniors (TSS) training program, the Port Pirie Regional Library Service will once again be providing an exciting range of FREE technology training for seniors.

The Tech Savvy Seniors SA Program is available to members of the community aged 60 years or over and is aimed at improving digital knowledge and skills in a fun, supportive environment that allows participants to learn at their own pace.
The Program is a partnership between the Office for Ageing Well, Service SA, Telstra and the Libraries Board of South Australia (through Public Library Services).

Workshop sessions will cover a wide range of topics including:

Tablets, computers and mobile devices
How to navigate the internet safely
Connecting with family and friends via email and social media
Shopping and banking online
Accessing Government services such as Service SA sa.gov.au and MyGov sites and
How to use public library online resources such as eBooks, AudioBooks, eMagazines and apps including the new Libraries SA app.

So far over 4,000 seniors have benefited from over 1000 training sessions offered across the state since the program began in August 2017.
Some of the outcomes for these participants are:
83% feel confident using tablets, computers or smartphones.
84% access information online (such as news, personal interest, travel, health, local business) more often.
84% feel they’ve gained new skills to use in their everyday life in areas of interest to them and
71% feel more connected to family and friends.

Participants attending have reported that the sessions are a good opportunity to receive more information and ask questions in a small group. They’re now more confident participating in the online world which they realise is a necessity for modern life.
Workshop sessions will be held at the Port Pirie Regional Library, located at 3 Wandearah Road, Port Pirie during October and November 2019.
