Join the Garage Sale Trail Fun

Published 13th September 2024

Boasting garage sales across Australia on 9-10 and 16-17 November 2024, the Garage Sale Trail is a great chance for local residents to turn their unwanted items into cash and shop for pre-loved items at bargain prices.

Garage Sale Trail is Australia's biggest secondhand treasure hunt with over 400,000 Australians expected to hit the streets in the search for pre-loved bargains.

With support from Port Pirie Regional Council, this will be the second time that our region will take part in the Garage Sale Trail and it is hoped that many residents will choose to take part and ensure another successful event.

This follows some great results from our first event held in 2023 which attracted 1,936 participants in our region at 65 garage sales hosted locally. With a total resale value of $16,945 created locally and 24,410 kg of items reused in the process last year, we anticipate an even bigger and better event in 2024.

Anyone can host a sale – households, community groups, charities, schools, streets or groups of friends are all encouraged to get involved.

It’s free to register and once signed up, sellers will receive a step-by-step guide for hosting a garage sale, a free web listing as well as a range of free promotional materials, from posters to bunting, letterbox slips and more.

More sales means more bargains and there really will be something for everyone; from fashion to mid-century furniture, cookware to children’s toys, vinyl, tools and everything in between.

Selling or shopping at garage sales is a fun and simple action we can take to reduce our carbon footprint. The Garage Sale Trail helps neighbours and community members connect, make money and keep useful items out of landfill.
