Join us for Clean Up Australia Day this Sunday!
Port Pirie Regional Council invites the community to step up and join us for Clean Up Australia Day!
More than one million Australians every year join in clean-up activities in the nation’s largest community-based mobilisation event. Clean Up Australia Day is a great opportunity to reduce waste in our local environment, enjoy social connection with family and friends and show your community pride.
Clean Up Australia Day is held on Sunday 2 March 2025 and there will be events in both Port Pirie and Crystal Brook.
Port Pirie event:
Port Pirie’s event will start at 10am at Solomontown Beach (near the pump track), moving along to Memorial Park. This will be followed by a free sausage sizzle lunch for participants.
Gloves and bags will be provided.
To register for the Port Pirie Clean Up, please contact Fawn Dyer by email fdyer@pirie.sa.gov.au or phone (08) 8633 9751.
Sarah from KESAB will also be attending the Port Pirie event to chat and answer questions about waste and recycling, sending less to landfill and how residents can sign up to Take the Pledge and win great prizes for their recycling efforts.
If you would like to chat with Sarah from KESAB on the day, please contact Rosalie on rjones@pirie.sa.gov.au or phone 8633 9720.
Crystal Brook event:
A Clean Up Australia Day event will also be held in Crystal Brook on Sunday 2 March.
Participants can meet at the Rotunda in Adelaide Square between 8.30am and 10.30am to register. Participants are asked to bring a hat and water bottle. Gloves are supplied and rubbish collected can be returned to Adelaide Square for Council pickup.
Free Domestic Waste Disposal:
In conjunction with Clean Up Australia Day, Port Pirie Regional Council will offer residents FREE domestic waste disposal on the day.
Free disposal will be accepted on Sunday 2 March 2025 at the Port Pirie Waste Transfer Station from 10am to 2pm and at the Crystal Brook Transfer Station from 2.30pm to 5.30pm.
