Memorial Oval Access: SGL Grand Final
Published 14th September 2026
The Spencer Gulf Football League Grand Final is happening at Memorial Oval this Saturday and Council asks our community to be mindful of a few conditions to ensure everyone can enjoy the day.
Memorial Oval has been temporarily closed to vehicles in the week leading up to the Grand Final in response to a request from the Spencer Gulf Football League. This temporary closure ensures fair and equitable access for everyone attending Grand Final Day and assists event security requirements.
Temporary Closure Details:
Memorial Oval will be CLOSED for vehicle access from 8.00am Monday 14 September until 8:00 am on Grand Final Saturday (19 September).
Pedestrian access will be available via the World War I Memorial Gates (via Memorial Drive).
Important Vehicle Reminder:
If your vehicle is currently parked in Memorial Oval, please contact Council on 8633 9777 to arrange removal.
Dog Free Zone:
Please also be aware that Memorial Oval is a dog-free zone, so we ask that you leave your four-legged friend at home on Grand Final Day.
Port Pirie Regional Council appreciates your understanding and cooperation as we work to make this a safe and enjoyable event for all.
Best of luck to the SGL and all our Port Pirie grand finalists – we can’t wait to share a fantastic day of footy with you!
