Memorial Park Toilets Reopen

Published 24th September 2021

Port Pirie Regional Council has decided to reopen the public toilet facilities in Memorial Park for general access during daytime hours, effective immediately.

Council resolved at Wednesday night’s Ordinary Council Meeting to open the Memorial Park toilets, located adjacent to the Northern Festival Centre, consistent with general business hours on weekdays and daylight hours on weekends. This decision will be reviewed subject to any vandalism occurring.

This follows community concerns regarding people enjoying Memorial Park having to cross the road to use the toilets at Memorial Oval, particularly children, the elderly and people living with a disability.

Council will also investigate the cost of fitting automatic closing mechanisms for the Memorial Park toilets for future consideration.

Extensive vandalism in the past forced the previous closure of the toilets, although the facilities were opened for use during booked events.

Council encourages everyone visiting Memorial Park to be vigilant and report any vandalism so these facilities can remain open for our community and visitors.
