Memorial Park Toilets Update

Published 27th September 2024

Brand new toilet facilities in Memorial Park have been constructed and are now awaiting the SA Water sewer connection point.

Port Pirie Regional Council understands the importance of having the new facility open in time for Port Pirie’s largest community event, the Smelters Picnic, on Wednesday 2 October.

Until the SA Water sewer connection is completed, a temporary wastewater disposal system is in place to allow the toilets to function. This temporary system is a holding tank that is required to be pumped out regularly.

Please be advised that this temporary system has a capacity limit. This system is more than sufficient for general use but there is a possibility it could reach capacity during a major community event. If this occurs during the Smelters Picnic, the toilet facilities will be closed for the remainder of the event.

The new facilities will be just one of the public toilet options available to the public at the Smelters Picnic.

In addition to the new toilet facilities, other public toilets will be available at the following locations for the Smelters Picnic:

  • Northern Festival Centre toilets (exterior toilets on southern/Memorial Park side of building – female and unisex accessible toilets only)
  • Extra portable toilets in Memorial Park
  • Memorial Oval toilets

Any questions or concerns can be directed to Port Pirie Regional Council on 8633 9666.
