New Executive Officer Appointed to Transform the Upper Spencer Gulf
Spencer Gulf Cities has recently announced the appointment of Leonie Boothby from Leonie Boothby and
Associates as its new Executive Officer.
Leonie is a highly skilled consultant with over 25 years’ experience in senior management roles in both the
public and private sectors. She has extensive experience as an Executive Officer for a local government
regional subsidiary and various not-for-profit incorporated associations. Additionally she has significant skills
in corporate governance, policy development, organisational planning, cross-government relationships and
As the primary shared resource and operational leader, the Executive Officer is pivotal to the success of the
Spencer Gulf Cities (Whyalla, Port Augusta and Port Pirie) and its future priorities and direction.
“Successful collaboration between the three cities, state and federal government and other key stakeholders
is crucial to capitalising on opportunities and addressing key challenges in the region”. Ms Boothby stated.
A core focus for the Spencer Gulf Cities Executive Officer will be continued advocacy and seeking of
partnerships and funding to deliver game changing projects and initiatives.

connections and strengths across the region,” Port Pirie Regional Council Mayor Leon Stephens stated.

valuable contribution to Spencer Gulf Cities for the past few years. We welcome Leonie and her extensive
skill set to our board and the region.” Mayor Brett Benbow from Port Augusta City Council stated.

introducing her to some of our regional priorities, challenges, projects and initiatives which need to be
