Published 25th May 2026

Port Pirie Regional Council is proud to once again support the Port Pirie and Surrounds NAIDOC Awards, recognising the achievements, leadership, and positive contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within our community.

Following the successful introduction of the awards in 2025, nominations are now open for the 2026 program. Community members are encouraged to nominate individuals who demonstrate excellence across a range of categories, including:

  • Community Involvement Award
  • Elder Award
  • Sportsperson Award
  • Youth Award (aged 12 to 25 years)

The awards provide an opportunity to celebrate local role models and recognise the important contributions Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples make to the social, cultural and civic life of the region.

Community members are encouraged to take part by submitting nominations and joining the celebrations.

Award recipients will be announced during the community’s NAIDOC Week Celebrations to be held at the Port Pirie Regional Library on Monday, 6 July 2026. Further details about NAIDOC Week events in Port Pirie and surrounds will be available shortly.
