Port Pirie Outdoor Swimming Pool Repairs

Published 29th November 2021

Port Pirie Regional Council identified an issue with the pipework at the Port Pirie Outdoor Swimming Pool earlier this year and have been working to resolve the problem. Emerging issues have escalated with regard to the cracked inlet and outlet pipes and unfortunately, Council has been forced to temporarily close the pool to conduct urgent pipework repairs.

Council will offer residents free access to the Crystal Brook Swimming Pool until the Port Pirie Outdoor Swimming Pool can be repaired and reopened.

An inspection conducted last week will confirm the detail and total cost of repairs.

Works have commenced today to remove concrete. This will be followed by the removal and replacement of pipework on the eastern side of the pool with the expectation that the pool will be operational again in time for the Christmas break.

Belgavia Leisure has accommodated the Port Pirie Amateur Swimming Club training between the Port Pirie indoor pool and Crystal Brook pool. Belgravia Leisure will work with pool users to manage access to the indoor pool ensuring all bookings and programs can continue while allowing public access within the current State Government COVID-19 capacity restrictions.

Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and anticipates the Port Pirie Outdoor Swimming Pool will reopen as soon as possible.
