Port Pirie Shortlisted for Two Prestigious Tourism Awards

Published 30th September 2024

Port Pirie Regional Council is delighted to announce that Port Pirie has been shortlisted for two major tourism awards in the 2024 South Australian Tourism Awards.

The Port Pirie Visitor Information Centre is a finalist in the ‘Visitor Information Services’ category, while the Port Pirie SALA Winter Festival has been nominated in the ‘Festivals and Events’ category.  These nominations reflect the hard work and dedication of the Visitor Information Centre, Council, and the local community in promoting Port Pirie as a premier tourist destination.

The South Australian Tourism Awards annually recognise excellence in the state’s tourism sector.  Finalists are selected through a rigorous process including a detailed written submission, site inspection by an Adelaide-based judge, and a panel review.

This recognition underpins the growing appeal of Port Pirie, with the Port Pirie Visitor Information Centre serving as a vital hub for tourists, and the Port Pirie SALA Winter Festival attracting visitors from across the state with its vibrant cultural offerings.

As finalists, Port Pirie’s entries are among South Australia’s finest tourism businesses. Winners and medallists will be announced at the 2024 South Australian Tourism Awards Gala Dinner, to be held on Friday 1 November, at the Adelaide Oval.

In addition to being finalists, the Port Pirie Visitor Information Centre and Port Pirie SALA Winter Festival are eligible for the Voters' Choice Award.
