Rates Assistance Announcement
Port Pirie Regional Council recognises that the COVID 19 pandemic has impacted the community and are offering support through rates assistance.
At a Special Meeting this morning, Council endorsed an initial three month period of no fines and no interest on rates payments from 31 March to 30 June 2020. Debt collection will also be suspended during this period.
The initial three month period was identified due to the rapidly changing and developing nature of the COVID 19 situation. Council is committed to reviewing this rates support during and after the three month period to determine if further assistance is required.
Council is also encouraging residents who are experiencing difficulty in paying rates to contact us to discuss confidential payment plans. Residents are encouraged to contact Council via phone (8633 9777) or email (rates@pirie.sa.gov.au)
Council also recognises that there are many clubs and organisations that pay lease and license fees for the use of Council facilities and that they too have been financially impacted by the COVID 19 pandemic. Council is reviewing financial assistance options for leases and licenses and a report will be presented to the May Council Meeting. We do however, encourage those with concerns to please contact us (preferably by phone or email) to discuss with our staff.
