Representation Review

Port Pirie Regional Council is currently conducting a Representation Review in accordance with Section 12 (7) of the Local Government Act 1999 to examine the various options available to Council in regards to its composition and ward structure.

Specifically, the Representation Options Paper considers the following matters:

  • Whether the principal member of the Council should be a Mayor elected by the community or a Chairperson selected by the elected body;
  • The composition of the Council, including the number of Councillors and how Councillors shall be elected (i.e. Ward Councillors, Area Councillors or a combination of both); and
  • The division of the Council’s area into wards, including whether a ‘no ward’ structure should be retained, taking into consideration the ward quota principles set out in section 33 of the Act.

This Representation Options Paper is now available for public consultation. It can be viewed online at www.pirie.sa.gov.au/noticeboard/consultationor in hard copy at the following locations:

  • Council Administration Centre, 115 Ellen Street, Port Pirie
  • Port Pirie Regional Library, 3 Wandearah Road, Port Pirie
  • Crystal Brook Office, Bowman Street, Crystal Brook

Consultation closes at 5.00pm Friday 27 August 2021.
