SALA Exhibition Opening 2026
The Port Pirie Regional Art Gallery invites the community to celebrate the opening of two thought-provoking exhibitions as part of SALA Festival 2026.
The exhibitions will officially be opened on Friday 24 July by Mayor Leon Stephens and feature artist talks from David Foreman, Gethin Creagh and Christopher Boha, along with complimentary refreshments.
Northern Journeys, by Kangaroo Island artists David Foreman and Gethin Creagh, combines moving image and soundscape to explore the landscapes of Far North South Australia and Kangaroo Island. Through immersive projections and ambient sound, the exhibition invites visitors to slow down and connect with the beauty and fragility of the natural environment.
Alongside this exhibition, Remains of a Future Past: What We Leave Behind by Christopher Boha presents a compelling collection of assemblage, sculpture and mixed media works that investigate memory, environmental change and the stories embedded in everyday objects. Using reclaimed timbers, glass and found materials, Boha imagines how future generations might interpret the traces we leave behind.
Visitors can also book into Christopher Boha’s hands-on assemblage workshop, inspired by the themes of his exhibition. Participants will create their own artworks using found and recycled materials while exploring ideas of memory, place and storytelling.
