Seeking Expressions of Interest from Sports Clubs to Support Council's Bid for Masters Games

Published 30th January 2026

Port Pirie Regional Council is inviting local sporting organisations to express their interest in supporting a proposed bid to host the South Australian Masters Games in 2027 or 2028.

Council is currently preparing an Expression of Interest to Sport SA and is seeking to partner with local clubs and associations to oversee and support individual sporting codes as part of the Games program.

The South Australian Masters Games is a major multi-sport event that attracts hundreds of participants from across the state and interstate, delivering significant economic, social, and community benefits to host regions.

Deputy Mayor, Alan Zubrinich, said Council is keen to work closely with the local sporting community as part of the bid.

“Local clubs play a vital role in delivering high-quality sporting events. We are seeking expressions of interest from organisations that may be willing to oversee their respective sporting codes if Port Pirie is successful in hosting the Games,” Cr Zubrinich said.

“This is an exciting opportunity to showcase our facilities, volunteers, and sporting community, while also delivering strong benefits for the region.”

Clubs that register their interest at this stage are not making a formal commitment. The purpose of the process is to identify potential partners and provide further information about roles, expectations, and support arrangements.
