Temporary Closure - Solomontown Boat Ramp

Published 14th October 2021

Keen to enjoy the  approaching summer months out on the water?

Port Pirie Regional Council will be conducting works at the Solomontown Boat Ramp later this month to improve the boating experience for the community. These works involve filling a void in the boat ramp with concrete for a smoother, safer surface.

The boat ramp will be partially closed from Monday 25 October to allow this to happen and should be completed by the end of that week. One lane will remain open; however, there may be some restriction.

Residents are encouraged to use the boat ramp on the opposite side of the John Pirie Bridge (also known as the Bridge to Nowhere) as much as possible during this time.

Council will also construct a new launching area for the Port Pirie Rowing Club near the Yacht Club pontoon. These works are anticipated to start mid-November and be finished within a week.

All works are subject to favourable weather and tides.

Council thanks the community for their cooperation and apologises for any inconvenience caused.
