Update - Asphalt Works Scheduled for Port Pirie
Port Pirie Regional Council has awarded a contract to Boral Asphalt to undertake the annual road resurfacing works throughout the area. Due to weather delays, these works will not be commencing on Thursday 30 April 2020 as originally advertised. Works are now scheduled to commence on Wednesday 6 May 2020 and are expected to take one week to complete.
Roads programmed to be resurfaced are:
- Goode Road – The Terrace to Fifth Street
- Mary Elie Street – Ellen Street to Florence Street
- Gertrude Street – Norman Street to Alexander Street
- Ellen Street – David Street to George Street
- Dunstall Road – Warnertown Road to end of Dunstall Road
Please note working hours for all sites (Monday to Saturday) is 7am – 6pm with the exception of Goode Road where the working hours on weekdays only will be 9.30am to 2.30pm (due to the school hours of Port Pirie West Primary School).
Works consist of profiling the full width of the existing road surface and laying new asphalt. Driveway access may be temporarily closed and some sections of road may be inaccessible for a short time while works are conducted.
Boral Asphalt will notify all residents and businesses directly affected by these works. Once works are completed, vehicles can drive on the new surface at low speeds with care at the direction of traffic controllers on site.
Traffic management and diversions will be in place throughout this time and Port Pirie Regional Council asks that vehicles and pedestrians obey all signage and direction for the safety of the construction team and other motorists.
Council thanks residents in advance for their cooperation.
