In partnership, the Port Pirie Regional Council, Port Augusta Council, and the Whyalla Council are seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified and experienced members of the public to fill 5 vacant positions (vacant as of the commencement of the Planning and Design Code for Phase 3 Councils), being 1 Presiding Member and 4 Independent Members for the newly formed Upper Spencer Gulf Regional Assessment Panel (RAP).


The RAP is responsible for assessing a range of Development Applications against the provisions of the Planning and Design Code created via the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 (PDI Act).
The Upper Spencer Gulf RAP will be a newly formed RAP and will cover the council areas of Port Pirie, Port Augusta, and Whyalla Councils.


The successful applicants must have appropriate skills and knowledge of the planning, development or related industry sectors, and be accredited as a Level 2 Accredited Professional (from the SA Government Accreditation Authority) pursuant to the PDI Act.


The successful candidates may be subject to Ministerial Approval. The RAP will commence once the Phase 3 Planning and Design Code is implemented. This is currently proposed to be in September 2020 or possibly later in 2020.
RAP meetings are scheduled monthly but held on an as needs basis at either of the three Upper Spencer Gulf council offices and a remuneration fee applies for sitting members.


Expressions of interest for the positions should include certificate of Level 2 Accreditation or evidence of application for accreditation, resume and covering letter, and should be forwarded in Confidence to Mr Grant McKenzie, Director Development & Regulation, Port Pirie Regional Council, gmckenzie@pirie.sa.gov.au, to be received no later than 5:00pm on Wednesday 1 July 2020.
