As part of the Greening Port Pirie Program, Port Pirie Regional Council is excited to offer PORT PIRIE RESIDENTS free native plant seedlings on Sunday 21 and Monday 22 April 2024 to coincide with World Earth Day.

This initiative is designed to help beautify our community, reduce airborne lead dust, increase biodiversity and is also a great opportunity to introduce native flora into your garden.

Plant packs will include 6 native plant seedlings which will be randomly selected from a wide range of 20 attractive and hardy native species. These plants include Eremophila varieties, Desert Flame, Blueberry Lily, Australian Pig Face, Billy Buttons and many other species. These plant species are not only beautiful but have also been sourced locally and adapted to the local climate, which makes them easier to care for while supporting local wildlife.

Port Pirie residents can collect their seedlings between 9am – 12pm on Sunday 21 April and Monday 22 April from the Port Pirie Regional Council Works Depot, located at 20 Broadstock Road, Solomontown. Proof of residential address will be required upon collection and plants are limited to one pack per household. A free sausage sizzle will also be offered on the Sunday as part of the plant giveaway fun.

The giveaway is ONLY FOR RESIDENTS OF PORT PIRIE as it is part of the State Government’s partnership for Greening Port Pirie and aims to reduce airborne lead dust within the town.

Can't make it on those dates?

Residents who are unable to collect their seedlings on the above dates can contact Fawn Dyer by email fdyer@pirie.sa.gov.au or phone 8633 9751 to arrange an alternative collection date and time to suit.

Pre-registrations are welcome.
