Kaurna Yarta - The Seasons

Poster for Kaurna Yarta performance as part of the 2026 Port Pirie SALA Winter Festival

A highlight of this year's Winter Festival was the spectacular cinematic performance of Kaurna Yarta.

This feature event was an unmissable, ceremonial concert inspired by connection to country and the cycle of the seasons. The event was presented by the Taikurtinna Dance Group led by Jamie Goldsmith and the Bowerbird Collective for this spectacular, cinematic concert, featuring stunning visuals, immersive soundscapes, song, dance and ceremony, as well as new music written for strings and traditional instruments by SA composer, David John Lang.

Saturday, August 1st, 6-7:30pm - Memorial Park, Port Pirie

Supported by Create SA and Country Arts SA.

A Zero Waste Festival

This year’s Port Pirie SALA Winter Festival is proudly a Zero Waste event. We ask all food and market vendors to use food/beverage packaging that are certified compostable, environmentally friendly materials.

Council may support vendors with signage to showcase their actions and educate the community. Our goal is to minimise waste, so we appreciate your support in using sustainable alternatives. We’re not just celebrating creativity—we’re doing it sustainably.
