Native Plant Giveaway Survey

Published 11th August 2025

The Port Pirie Region is going green and the community is invited to join the journey!

Port Pirie Regional Council has released a survey on our Native Plant Giveaways in preparation for the next giveaway event planned for October 2025.

The survey is a great opportunity for residents to reflect on the previous plant giveaways held in May 2025 and April 2024 while providing ideas and suggestions for future events. This includes whether the native seedlings received were planted, if they survived or thrived and whether they enhanced the resident’s garden.

Port Pirie Regional Council would also love to share stories from people who successfully planted these seedlings. These stories and photos bring the event to life, encourage future event participation and support the greening initiatives happening in Port Pirie.

The Native Plant Giveaways offer free native seedlings to our community, meaning residents can green their own gardens while contributing towards the overall community greening efforts.

The plant giveaways are part of the Port Pirie Greening Program, which is fundedby the Government of South Australia as part of a four-year, $5.7 million partnership that aims to minimise lead exposure pathways, beautify the community and increase biodiversity.

Other major projects within the Port Pirie Greening Program include the Phoenix Park Wetlands redevelopment, the Water Sensitive Urban Design project in Pirie West and the Solomontown Footpaths project.

Port Pirie Regional Council is excited to bring you a bigger and better Native Plant Giveaway in October! Further updates to come in the coming weeks.
