One Month To Go Until SALA Winter Festival
Port Pirie’s major event has an extra touch of magic this year, honouring our rich history while celebrating a bright future.
It is now one month until the Port Pirie SALA Winter Festival returns to Memorial Park on Saturday 1 August 2026. This is the fifth year of the local winter spectacular that marks the beginning of the South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival in the region.
This year’s event will be even more meaningful as the community comes together to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Port Pirie. Arts, culture and local stories will take centre stage, delivering a special program inspired by the people, places and stories that have shaped Port Pirie.
Highlights of the Port Pirie SALA Winter Festival Program include:
- High Tea with musical entertainment
- Kaurna Yarta – The Seasons cultural performance featuring Taikurtinna Dance Group and Bowerbird Collective
- Program of live music headlined by My Cherie, an alternative pop and indie folk/rock singer/songwriter based on Kaurna Land (Adelaide)
- Arts tents and workshops
- 150 Years of Port Pirie history display
- Youth Zone featuring a silent disco, giant games and the Kids Chalk Walk
- Local food and market stalls
- Roving performers and so much more!
This year’s Festival includes the return of event favourites such as Evelyn Roth’s Nylon Zoo and the breathtaking pyrotechnic performance from Flux Entertainment. A full program of entertainment and artists will be released soon.
Port Pirie Regional Council is committed to ensuring our events are welcoming and accessible for everyone. An Access Guide and Easy Read maps will soon be released to help the community plan for and enjoy their day. The event will also feature quiet spaces, accessible parking and other supports to create a safe, inclusive community environment.
The Port Pirie SALA Winter Festival is proudly a Zero Waste event. We are not just celebrating creativity – we’re doing it sustainably.
