Citizen of the Year Nominations

Published 10th October 2023

Do you know someone who strives to make our community a better place?

Nominations are now open for Port Pirie’s Australia Day Citizen of the Year Awards. These awards will be proudly presented to the recipients on Australia Day, 26 January 2024.

There are three categories in which nominations can be submitted:

  • Citizen of the Year Award
  • Young Citizen of the Year Award
  • Community Event of the Year Award.

These awards recognise individuals and organisations that have made significant contributions to the community.  The awards are open to all residents of the Council region who are Australian born or citizens.

“The Citizen of the Year award is no doubt the highest accolade that can be bestowed on a member of our community. I encourage you to think about the people around you who perform outstanding work and take the time to nominate them. Make that difference in someone’s life you believe needs to be recognised.”, said Mayor Leon Stephens.

Recipients of the Council Awards may also go in the running for the State Awards which are presented by the Governor of South Australia.

Nominations close at 5.00pm Friday 17 November 2023.
