Council Welcomes the Return of its Volunteers Program

Published 6th September 2023

Port Pirie Regional Council is thrilled to announce the return of its Volunteers Program, aimed at fostering community engagement and enhancing the quality of life for residents across the region.

After a pause due to COVID-19, the program is back, offering an array of exciting opportunities for individuals to contribute their time and skills towards building a stronger, more vibrant community.

The Volunteers Program is an integral part of the Port Pirie community, enabling residents to actively participate in projects and initiatives that make a real difference. Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or someone looking to give back for the first time, there's a place for everyone to contribute their unique talents.

Volunteering offers a genuine opportunity to become a valued member of the team; to meet new people and form unique friendships or just be involved in new experiences.

People volunteer for many reasons, including:

  • Contact with other people;
  • An opportunity to develop new skills;
  • A way to increase confidence and self-esteem;
  • To take on a new challenge;
  • To form new networks and friends;
  • The experience may provide a pathway to employment; or
  • Just wanting to help their community.

Council is currently seeking Volunteers for roles within our Library, Tourism and Gardening sectors.

Volunteer commitments can range from a few hours per month to several hours per week, depending on the specific role requirements. All ages are welcome and potential volunteers do not necessarily need any particular skills or qualifications to apply.
